Thank you for considering adoption of a dog through The Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation's New England group. Before completing the adoption application please carefully read the following .

  • We do charge a nominal adoption fee, which helps to defray the cost of getting a dog "adoptable"[spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm-test, temperament evaluation, treatment of minor existing health problems (if any), etc.]. Though subject to change, the current adoption fee is $400.

  • We are unable to accept personal checks or credit cards for payment of the adoption fee. The fee is payable in cash, money order or bank check only .

  • The application should be completed in its entirety. Questions left unanswered will render the application incomplete.

  • We adopt to renters as well as homeowners. However, if you are a renter you will need to submit (by regular mail, not e-mail) a letter from your landlord confirming that you are allowed to have a Saint Bernard on his/her premises.

  • Adopters will sign a contract describing the dog and outlining the conditions under which the dog is adopted.

  • We conduct a home visit and reference check before placing a dog.

  • We do not place dogs outside the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont). If you live outside New England, please access our national website, www.saintrescue.org , for contact information of the rescue coordinator closest to you.

  • We place dogs as family pets only, not for breeding or herding or guarding or for personal protection. We require that they live inside the home, and are allowed outside only for exercise and play.

  • Finally, and most importantly: Our mission is to find the most suitable home for the wonderful dogs in our care, and we reserve the right to decline to adopt to any applicant. Initiating the application and screening process is not a guarantee that the particular dog in which you're interested will be placed with you. We do not do "first come, first served" but, rather, choose the most appropriate placement for a particular dog.

I understand and agree to the terms as outlined above.

GREAT! Now let'
s move on to the adoption application.
